New Blog Post: "Steams In The Desert" – L. B. Cowan

This is My doing. (1 Kings 12:24)

The disappointments of life are simply the hidden appointments of love.
C. A. Fox
My child, I have a message for you today. Let me whisper it in your ear so any storm clouds that may arise will shine with glory and the rough places you may have to walk will be made smooth. It is only four words, but let them sink into your inner being, and use them as a pillow to rest your weary head. “This is My doing.”
Have you ever realized that whatever concerns you concerns Me too? “For whoever touches you touches the apple of (My) eye” (Zech. 2:8). “You are precious and honoured in My sight” (Isa. 43:4). Therefore it is My special delight to teach you.
I want you to learn when temptations attack you, and the enemy comes in “like a pent-up flood” (Isa.59:19), that “this is My doing” and that your weakness needs My strength, and your safety lies in letting Me fight for you.
Are you in difficult circumstances, surrounded by people who do not understand you, never ask your opinion, and always push you aside? “This is My doing.” I am the God of circumstances. You did not come to this place by accident – you are exactly where I meant for you to be.
Have you asked Me to make you humble? Then see that I have placed you in perfect school where this lesson is taught. Your circumstances and the people around you are only being used to accomplish My will.
Are you having problems with money, finding it hard to make ends meet? “This is My doing,” for I am the One who keeps your finances, and I want you to learn to depend upon Me. My supply is limitless and I “will meet all your needs” (Phil. 4:19). I want you to prove My promises so no one may say, “You did not trust in the LORD your God” (Deut. 1:32).
Are you experiencing a time of sorrow? “This is My doing.” I am “a man of sorrows, and familiar with suffering” (Isa. 53:3). I have allowed your earthly comforters to fail you, so that by turning to Me you may receive “eternal encouragement and good hope” ( 2 Thess. 2:16). Have you longed to do some great work for Me but instead have been set aside on a bed of sickness and pain? “This is My doing.” You were so busy I could not get your attention, and I wanted to teach you some of My deepest truths. “They also serve who only stand and wait.” In fact, some of My greatest workers are those physically unable to serve, but who have learned to wield the powerful weapon of prayer.
Today I place a cup of holy oil in your hands. Use it freely, My child. Anoint with it every new circumstance, every word that hurts you, every interruption that makes you impatient, and every weakness you have. The pain will leave as you learn to see Me in all things. Laura A. Barter Snow
“This is from Me,” the Saviour said,
As bending low He kissed my brow,
“For One who loves you thus has led.
Just rest in Me, be patient now,
Your Father knows you have need of this,
Though, why perhaps you cannot see –
Grieve not for things you’ve seemed to miss.
The thing I send is best for thee.”
Then, looking through my tears I plead,
“Dear LORD, forgive, I did not know,
It will not be hard since You do tread,
Each path before me here below.”
And for my good this thing must be,
His grace sufficient for each test.
So still I’ll sing, “Whatever be
God’s way for me is always best.”

New Blog Post:" Come Away My Beloved" – Frances J. Roberts.

Behold, I have made you a nest in the hollow of My hand, and you shall lie down and sleep.
Though the elements rage, though the winds blow and the floods come, you shall rest in peace.
For you are precious in My sight, O My child. I know you by name, for you are not the child of a stranger, but the fruit of My own loins. Yes, I have begotten you, I have called you by your name, and you are Mine.

Be not dismayed, for as I suffered, so shall you suffer in the world. I have not taken you out of the world, but I am with you to help you and to encourage you, and to give you strength in all you may be called upon to endure.

You face each new day with Me at your side. (Never forget that I am there.)
You meet every difficult circumstance with My arm outstretched to fight for you.

Do not lift your hand to attempt to accomplish any slightest task in your own strength. This I have forbidden. God helps not those who help themselves, but He is the champion of those who cannot help themselves, and of those who are wise enough not to try.
It is not your cooperation for which I have asked, but your submission. Not that you go alone until you fall, but that you draw upon My strength for every step – both the smooth and the rough.

If you form the habit of trusting Me in the easy way, you will find it the natural thing to lean upon Me in the difficult situation. And if I bring you through the river in summer, you shall not fear to trust Me in flood time.

So clasp your hand in Mine, and do not loosen your hold. For you cannot tell what great thing I may do for you through some small happening. Your every hair is numbered, and the most incidental occurrences of the most ordinary day I delight to choose and use to reveal My earnestness in helping you.

Clasp Me to your heart, for I love you with an everlasting love, and with strong cords I have bound you. Look not back, but look ahead, for I have glory prepared for you. Yes, when you look on My face you will surely say that these present sufferings are in no way comparable to the glory I have in store for you.

New Blog Post: “God’s Discipline Proves His Love”

Hebrews 12:1-2 NLT Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us. We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith. Because of the joy awaiting Him, He endured the cross, disregarding its shame. Now He is seated in the place of honour beside God’s throne.

Hebrews 13:7 NLT Remember your leaders who taught you the Word of God. Think of all the good that has come from their lives, and follow the example of their faith.

Prayer

O my precious Father, I want to praise and thank You for disciplining me through Jesus Christ my precious Lord and through the supernatural power of the Holy Spirit of God. I strip off every weight that has slowed me down, especially the sin within my life that can so easily trip me up.
Father, I ask You to forgive me everything I have done wrong which is contrary to Your will. It is not my intentions to continue to sin against You anymore. I do desire however to live in a righteous, holy and godly life which will magnify and exalt the Lord Jesus Christ through my testimony and witness. Only You can make this possible for me as I depend upon, lean upon and rely upon the Holy Spirit of God to help me to do this.
I acknowledge and accept Jesus Christ as my personal Saviour and Lord and He reigns over my spirit, heart, mind and soul. I remember the teachings which have been written down in the Word of God as an example for me to follow this builds up my faith in Him. Father, I desire to run the race with endurance that You have set before me. I can do this by constantly keeping my eyes focused upon Jesus, the champion that initiates and perfects my faith. He is the only One who helps me to become the person God wants me to become and I desire this with all my heart to live my life worthy of the calling of Jesus Christ which He has placed upon my life. Only He is worthy to be praised, adored and loved forever and always to the glory of our heavenly Father. Amen

New Blog Post: "Streams In The Desert – L.B. Cowman"

Ezekiel 3:22 The hand of the Lord was upon me there, and He said to me, “Get up and go out to the plain, and there I will speak to you.”

Have you ever heard of anyone being greatly used by Christ who did not experience a special time of waiting, or a complete upset of his plans at first? From the apostle Paul’s being sent into the Arabian wilderness for three years – during which time he must have been overflowing with the Good News – down to the present day, it seems those who will be used will have a time of waiting. Have you been looking forward to telling about trusting Jesus, but instead He is asking you to show what trust is, by waiting?
My own experience is far less severe than Paul’s but reveals the same principle. Once when I thought the door was being thrown open for me to enter the literary field with a great opportunity, it was just as quickly shut. My doctor stepped in and simply said, “Never! You must choose between writing and living, for you cannot do both.” The year was 1860, and I did not come out of my shell of isolation with my book Ministry of Song until 1869. By then I saw the distinct wisdom of having been kept waiting for nine years in the shade.
God’s love is unchangeable, and He is just as loving even when we do not see or feel it. And His love and His sovereignty are equal and universal. Therefore He often withholds our enjoyment and awareness of our progress, because He knows best what will actually ripen and further His work in us.  Francis Ridley Havergal
