The king asked, “Well, how can I help you?” With a prayer to the God of heaven, I replied, “If it please the king, and if you are pleased with me, your servant, send me to Judah to rebuild the city where my ancestors are buried.” (Nehemiah 2:4-5 NLT)
Prayer
Father, I come to You in prayer, and I ask You to help me to deal with discouragement which tries to steal my peace, joy, and contentment. Help me to be content in whatever situation I find myself in. I ask You to take hold of my emotions and feelings so that I do not go into self-pity, nor will I accept or will I remain entrenched in an emotional pit.
Many a time I have had reason to feel defeated, because of the people who have let me down, I have felt profound disappointment and grieved. And though pain has flooded my soul and spirit, I cried out to God for direction from my situation. Lord, You can take an impossible situation—no matter what it is—and move in ways mightier than I could ever imagine. Constantly, I live in eager expectation of what the Lord can do. I turn all my disappointment’s into petition’s for God’s help. He restores my hope and prevent’s negative emotions from gaining a stranglehold upon my life. I can make my plans, but the final outcome is in God’s hands. I can always “prove” that I am right, but it’s the Lord who I have to convince. I commit all my work and prayer’s to the Lord, then He will make it succeed, in Christ. Amen.
