Even if we believe that
it makes no difference to the Lord whether we do these things, still we cannot
just go ahead and do them to please ourselves; for we must bear the “burden” of
being considerate of the doubts and fears of others – of those who feel these
things are wrong. Let’s please the other fellow, not ourselves, and do what is
for his good to build him up in the Lord. These things that were written in
Scriptures so long ago are to teach us patience and to encourage us so that we
look forward expectantly to the time when God will conqueror sin and death.
May God who gives
patience, steadiness and encouragement help you to live in complete harmony
with each other – each with the attitude of Christ toward the other? And then
all of us can praise the Lord together with one voice, giving glory to God, the
Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. Romans 15:1-6 TLB
(v.13) So I pray for you
Gentiles that God who give you hope will keep you happy and full of peace as
you believe in Him. I pray that God will help you overflow with hope in Him
through the Holy Spirit’s power within you.
Prayer
O my beloved God, you
have made us strong to enable us to help and bear the burdens of those who are
weak. Do not allow us to please ourselves, but always help us to be a blessing
to others, to build up our neighbours and friends for their good. For even You,
Jesus, did not please Yourself but as it is written: “The insults of those who
insult me have fallen on You.”
Everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that
through endurance and encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.
May our God who gives
endurance and encouragement give to us a spirit of unity amongst us enabling us
to follow Jesus Christ, with one heart, mind and may our mouths glorify God, the
Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. May the God of hope fill us with all joy and
peace as we trust in Him, so that we may overflow with hope by the power of the
Holy Spirit of God?
Let our relationship
with God be made perfect through the sanctification work of the Holy Spirit, and
our faith must be exercised in the realities of everyday life. God, You, will
engineer our circumstances and take us to the places You want us to be in. It
is only by having the experiences; our faith is sustained only by feelings and
by blessings. Once we get there, no matter where You, O God may place us, or
what inner emptiness we can experience; we can praise God that all is well,
because He is in control of all our circumstances. We are prepared to let You O
God, do what You want with us. I know You are never in a hurry, but we are willing
to wait as we see You pointing out what Your will is to be and we are interested
in God Himself, first and foremost for the glory and honour of Christ Jesus.
Amen.
