New Blog Post: “Double-Edged Sword”

Hebrews 4:12 NLT For the Word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires.

4:12 The Word of God is not simply a collection of words from God, a vehicle for communicating ideas; it is the living, life-changing, and dynamic as it works in us. With the incisiveness of a surgeon’s knife. God’s Word reveals who we are and what we are not. It penetrates the core of our moral and spiritual life. It discerns what is within us, both good and evil. The demands of God’s Word require decisions. We must not only listen to the Word; we must also let it shape our lives.

Before meeting with God, our minds can become battlefields. We allow the wrong influences to take control of us, thus causing anxiety and turmoil to our lives. When the Holy Spirit begins to teach us the truth in God’s Word, we can see His Word is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints, and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of our hearts. The Word of God is not simply a collection of words from God, a vehicle for communicating ideas, it is living, life-changing, and dynamic as He works within us. God’s Word reveals who we are and what we are not. It penetrates the core of our moral and spiritual lives. We should not do anything in our lives which does not glorify or magnify our God. The Holy Spirit reveals the sins in our lives; we have a choice whether we will repent or not from the sins immediately. It is only God who has the power to deliver us from sin. He is such a loving and faithful God; He wants our lives to be holy, righteous, and godly. He does not want anything to hinder our walk with Him. Satan constantly tries to block our vision with God, but God wants us to focus our eyes on Him at all times.
