New Blog: "Streams in the Valley" – Mrs Charles E. Cowman

Set a watch, O LORD, before my mouth; keep the door of my lips. (Ps.141:3)

                                    Let me no wrong or idle word,
                                            Unthinking say;
                                    Set Thou a seal upon my lips –
                                            Just for today.

Keep still! When trouble is brewing, keep still! When slander is getting on its legs, keep still! When your feelings are hurt, keep still till you recover from your excitement at any rate! Things look different through an unagitated eye.
In commotion once I wrote a letter and sent it, and I kept that letter in my pocket until I could look it over without agitation, and without tears, and I was glad I did – less and less it seemed necessary to send it. I was not sure it would do any harm, but in my doubtfulness I learned reticence, and eventually it was destroyed.
Time works wonders! Wait till you can speak calmly and then perhaps you will not need to speak. Silence is the most powerful thing conceivable, sometimes. It is strength in its grandeur; it is like a regiment ordered to stand still in the mad fury of battle. To plunge in were twice as easy. Nothing is lost by learning to keep still.         HANNAH WHITALL SMITH

Lord, keep me still,
                                    Though stormy winds may blow,
                                    And waves my little bark may overflow,
                                      Or even if in darkness I must go,
                                      Yes keep me still, yet keep me still.

                                                Lord, keep me still,
                                      The waves are in Thy hand,
                                    The roughest winds subside at Thy command.
                                        Steer Thou my bark in safety to the land,
                                                And keep me still, and keep me still.

                                                Lord, keep me still,
                                      And may I ever hear Thy still small voice
                                                To comfort and to cheer;
                                      So shall I know and feel Thee ever near.
                                         And keep me still, and keep me still.
                                                                                       SELECTED

Silence is a great peacemaker.   HENRY WADSWORTH LONGFELLOW

New Blog Post: "God Keeps His Promises."

God made a promise to Abraham. And as there is no one greater than God, He used Himself when He swore to Abraham saying, “I will surely bless you and give you many descendants.” Abraham waited patiently for this to happen, and He received what God promised.
People always use the name of someone greater than themselves when they swear. The oath proves what they say is true, and this ends all arguing. God wanted to prove that His promise was true to those who would get what He promised. And He wanted them to understand clearly that His purposes never change, so He made an oath. These two things cannot change: God cannot lie when He makes a promise, and He cannot lie when He makes an oath. These things encourage us who came to God for safety. They give us strength to hold on to the hope as an anchor for the soul, sure and strong. It enters behind the curtain in the Most Holy Place in heaven, where Jesus has gone ahead of us and for us. He has become the High Priest forever, a priest like Malchizedek. (Hebrews 6:13-20 NCV)

Prayer:

Gracious God, You have given me a sure hope that if I believe in the Son of God, the LORD Jesus Christ, then I can let go of all my anxieties and expectations and trust in You, O God for all the promises You have made with me. Whatever my life on earth holds, my future has already been predestined by You. I trust in You even when I go through valleys so dark that I cannot see the path before me. Yet the darkness cannot blind me to God’s promises I live by hope in Jesus Christ, He is the answer I need. Planted within me is the seed of undeniable hope that You, O God, will accomplish what You promise me.
Holy Spirit, You reside within me, and keeping me close to You by Your Truth in Your Word. As I embrace the hope of God through my love, faith, trust, and confidence In Him, He gives me the ability to endure the storms of life. Hope is the anchor of my soul and a gateway to peace and rest through a living God who holds my life within His loving grasp. I praise and bless Him always in the name and honour of Christ Jesus my precious LORD. Amen

New Blog Post: "Living Sacrifice"

I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.
And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
(Romans 12:1-2 NKJV)

Prayer

Precious God, I present my body to You today and lay it down at Your altar before Your presence. I am offering my body as a living sacrifice, holy acceptable to God, which is my reasonable service to God. I do not want to be conformed to this world, but be transformed into the image of Jesus Christ, depending, leaning, and replying upon the Holy Spirit of God, to transform and renew my soul, spirit body, and mind in the glory and honour of Jesus Christ’s Name. I want to please You Almighty God. I love You and willingly I will walk in obedience to You. I thank You for hearing my prayer and listening to my cries. I know You will answer me in accordance to Your will through Jesus Christ my Lord.  Amen

New Blog Post: "Praying For Our Children"

Praying for our children is a very important model role for us to follow. Raising our children to have Christian values is the teaching we must follow in Jesus Christ. The enemy uses many different tactics to try to rob our children of their destiny, but we must continue in prayer for them daily. When our children make a personal commitment to the Lord, all we can do is trust God to work out His divine plan for them. We should constantly pray for them, asking God to keep them on the road, which leads them to Christ, holding onto the promise God’s Word.
